What is the program?

It is an instrument of social development policy to improve the condition of Mexican households living in patrimony poverty through housing actions, considering that home ownership is a main welfare factor.

What is its goal?

Its goal is to improve the quality of life for lower-income households through housing actions.

Who can benefit from this program?

Mexican poorest families, who are in need of improving their dwelling conditions.

What requirements must meet the recipient?

  • The recipient must be the head of a household living in patrimony poverty conditions with at least one economic dependant*.
  • Submit an ID card or document proving his/her identity.
  • Fill out a Socio-Economic Information Certificate (CIS).
  • Submit a copy of his/hers and his/her spouse’s CURP.
  • Submit a certified document recording his/her income or a document containing this information and signed under oath of telling the truth.
  • Submit a document or voucher verifying his/her current address or an original certification thereof issued by the local authority.
  • Submit a written document signed under oath of telling the truth that he/she has not received a previous subsidy for home expansion or improvement.
  • If the housing action is to be completed in a lot owned by the beneficiary and located in an urban area, submit copies of property tax receipts and a document certifying the legal ownership thereof.
  • If the lot is located in a rural area, submit a copy of a document issued by executing agencies certifying the legal ownership thereof.
  • For the acquisition or construction of a home, submit an original document certifying that the applicant and his/her spouse do not own a property.

* Senior citizens do not require economic dependants to benefit from this program.

What amounts and support modalities may obtain the beneficiary?

  • Up to 53 pesos for the acquisition or construction of a basic housing unit in urban areas.
  • Up to 40 thousand pesos for the acquisition or construction of a basic housing unit in rural areas.
  • Up to 20 thousand pesos for home expansion or improvement in urban or suburban areas.
  • Up to 20 thousand pesos for home expansion in rural areas.
  • Up to 15 thousand pesos for home improvement in rural areas.

Who provides the resources to grant a loan to the recipient?

The federal government initially provides the funds. Additionally, the state and municipal authorities also contribute in accordance with the program’s operation rules.

The recipient must contribute at least 5% of the cash-value of the property or his/her work force to the building, extension, or improvement of his/her home providing that he/she is capable of doing so, or a specified amount in accordance with the operation rules of the program.

What is the coverage of the program?

The program operates at a national level providing support in each of the 32 states.

Where should the applicant submit his/her documents?

The applicant to the federal subsidy must submit the application in person before the executing authority of the program: the state housing agencies, municipal governments, or federal agencies of Sedesol.
